“By Your Side” is Rod Wave’s return, after announcing in one of his tracks, “Gone Till November” that he would be taking a hiatus. The track was released on November 15, 2021. It is his first release, after the release of his third studio album, SoulFly.

Over on a mellow beat with a piano backing produced by TnTXD and Harto Beats, Rod raps about his current life, updating his fans on what he had been doing during his break from music, from him finishing his tour to grinding to getting money.

Prior to the release of the track, Rod teased on his Twitter page on November 10, 2021, that he had something for the fans, teasing his return from his hiatus.

The track’s chorus heavily interpolates the track, “Hey There Delilah”, with the chorus having similar lyrics, as well as the track’s title is based on one of the lines: “I’m by your side”.
