“AM I DREAMING” is the fifteenth and final track off of Lil Nas X’s debut album MONTERO.

The song features Miley Cyrus, an artist who much like Lil Nas X has matured in the public eye and been subject to widespread criticism for exploring her sexuality. The two artists gained unbelievable fame at a young age, but these heartbreaking lyrics reflect the harsh reality they’ve faced as young LGBTQ people in the music industry.

A demo of the same song was leaked 2 months prior to its official release, which features a trimmed length of the song and different vocal parts in the last chorus.
